LUCA'S BRACE STICKERS THE THREE POINTS

 SWPL PREMIER WEST DIVISION

GODOLPHIN ATLANTIC FC 2 STICKER AFC 3

Admission £5

Att: 58(headcount)

It was a long time when I visited this club, infact it was a very wet day on the SWPL Groundhop and then later around 5 years ago, I saw Godolphin's second string win away at Looe Town, Sticker Ive visited a couple of times, again once was on a SWPL Groundop. Both teams were coming in to the match off defeats at the weekend, so not really sure what to really expect.

Was welcomed by several people of the Atlantic club including their lovely secretary Tania and also a lady from the Cornish FA and then joined by the match officials , which included tonights referee who was also the same young referee I saw last midweek at Porthleven.

Before the match me and Hazel tucked in to a nice chicken and mushroom pie, whilst Shawn had a tray of mushy peas, then I met clubman Ben Slater who was writing up the team line up's on the board near to the refreshment canteen.

I entered the 60 seated stand though only around 25 of the seats were to be used, not that they all were, but it gave great protection from the cold wind blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean as the temperture dipped as the sun went down, I was soon joined by Referees coach Ray Brown and we had a chat all game.

The match kicked off and the action went from end to end with the game being played at a quick pace, Atlantic had more of the ball for the first ten minutes of the game, whilst the visitors had more shots though none on target. In the 14th minute, ISSAC VARGA stuck a long range shot which nestled in to the bottom of the net to give the homesters the lead.

The visitors pressed forward and on 26 minutes were back on level terms, when SUNNY DOVER saw his turn and shot hit the back of the net for the equaliser. Both team both had close chances, but not really bothering the two keepers very much.

Sticker were beginning to look dangerous on the counter attack and in the 39th minute, DEREK LUCAS put the visitors in to the lead.

The Second Half started a bit scrappy and the fourth goal would be vital in the match as it proved, when out of the blue, DEREK LUCAS bagged his brace and his sides third of the night when hitting a stunning shot from 25 yards at a acute angle from the left hand side of the box.

A few personnel battles were taking places with mis timed challenges that led to the referee producing a few yellow cards with the clock ticking down.

In to injury time and Atlantic pulled a goal back from a close range effort by ISSAC VARGA but it was too little too late for them to salvage a point.
