TOWN'S SECOND HALF TURNAROUND GAINS THE POINTS

 WILTSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE

PREMIER DIVISION

CRICKLADE TOWN FC 2 PEWSDEY VALE FC 1

Att: 32

Halfway between Cornwall and Mansfield is the County of Wiltshire, where my son and daughter in law and 3 year old grandaughter live, so having spending the weekend with them ,me and my son decided on a local match, so a 30 minute drive saw us pick Cricklade Town hosting top of the table Pewsey Vale. I tweeted the homesters and they retweeted that we would be attending the game and kept us up to date with the early pitch inspection.

On arrival we was meeted and explained a little of the clubs history and bought a club metal badge, where the proceeds were going to the clubs charity, which is for epilipsy, as many of my followers are aware that I am a grand mal epliptic, so it was a no brainer to buy and support this cause.

The game kicked off and the rain stopped so we could walk round the outside of the railed pitch and it was Town who were quickest in to their stride, but wasnt really threatening the visiting keeper. Vale pressed on the counter but again their shots were going wide or being blocked.

The deadlock was finally broken on 37 minutes when the home defence failed to clear their lines and JAMES GUTHRIE scooped the ball in to the net to give his side the lead.

The Second Half saw the visitors creating more chances but again wayward finishing or good keeping from the home keeper saw the score remain at 0-1 until 67 minutes when the referee pointed to the penalty spot for town which was duly dispatched by ALEX BAKER to level up the scores.

This seemed to give the Home side confidance as they poured forward as the visiting keeper was kept on his toes, the visiting defence were also playing the offiside trap well and playing on the counter attack. With the clock running down, the game was heading for a draw, but a low ball from the left wing bounced around in the visitors box before BRADLEY FARRELL got first to the ball to score the winner.

A really good flowing match that was a credit to the Wiltshire Senior League and to both clubs, also must mention all 3 officials who I felt had a fine match.
