FOUNDATION DIVISION CUP FINAL
AFC BULL FARM 1 NETHERFIELD SENIORS 6
A early 11am kick off for the first of today finals being held at the home of Basford United FC in bright blazing sunshine and by 11.09am we had our first goal of the day when SEAN GOODWIN put AFC Bull Farm ahead, but the Seniors fought back and were soon level after KYLE CARTER on 14 minutes levelled things up. Netherfield then took charge of the game and went ahead on 19 minutes when GREG McLean made it 2-1. Things got worse in the 28th minute for Bull Farm when their defender Rik Sucher slid the ball passed his own keeper to make it 3-1 to the Seniors. In the Second Half due to the heat of the sun, the pace calmed down a little but on 62 minutes, BEN CRAWFORD headed home to make it 4-1 to the Netherfield side. On 70 minutes, veteran sub JAMES NEEDHAM came off the bench for the Seniors and added two goals in the 73rd and 84th minutes to make the final score 6-1.
DIVISION TWO NORTH CUP FINAL
BEESTON OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION 1 UNITED GRAYS COMMUNITY 1
(Beeston Old Boys Association won 5-3 on penalties)
A very close final where the teams could not be split after 90 minutes, The Old Boys took the lead after just 8 minutes through a header by GAVIN CARR, but they were pulled back level when Grays equalised through TREMERE LINDO on 19 minutes. both were very good organised sides that seemed to cancel each other out with not many chances in the game.
DIVISION TWO SOUTH CUP FINAL
AC UNITED 2 BINGHAM TOWN RESERVES 0
A great final to watch with both keepers in top notch form, with them both making save after save throughout the game, at the presentation both keepers Francisso Jechel and Nathan Davis received loud claps of applause from all the crowd.
AC United took the lead just before half time, when a attacker was tripped just inside the area and the ref pointed to the spot, to which JOSHUA OSAFO planted into the net, though Nathan Davis did get a hand to it. In the late stages of the match, Bingham pushed forward but this left gaps at the back and in injury time, DANIEL ASUENMHEN scored their second goal to settle the honours.
Must say how well all todays officials did in the matches.
During the middle match, I presented the Charity Cheque to Nottingham Stroke Club for £1,200, I would like to thank everyone who donated to them.
During the day, people and clubs donated to the new Blogs Charity which will be for FAMILY FUND which helps and supports families with children with special needs with the running total standing at £44.00 last night, we now have a running total of £109.75p.
