GRAND WEATHER FOR NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE CUP DAY

EUROSOCCER NOTTINGHAMSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE CUP FINALS DAY

FOUNDATION DIVISION CUP FINAL

AFC BULL FARM 1 NETHERFIELD SENIORS 6

A early 11am kick off for the first of today finals being held at the home of Basford United FC in bright blazing sunshine and by 11.09am we had our first goal of the day when SEAN GOODWIN put AFC Bull Farm ahead, but the Seniors fought back and were soon level after KYLE CARTER on 14 minutes levelled things up. Netherfield then took charge of the game and went ahead on 19 minutes when GREG McLean made it 2-1. Things got worse in the 28th minute for Bull Farm when their defender Rik Sucher slid the ball passed his own keeper to make it 3-1 to the Seniors. In the Second Half due to the heat of the sun, the pace calmed down a little but on 62 minutes, BEN CRAWFORD headed home to make it 4-1 to the Netherfield side. On 70 minutes, veteran sub JAMES NEEDHAM came off the bench for the Seniors and added two goals in the 73rd and 84th minutes to make the final score 6-1.

DIVISION TWO NORTH CUP FINAL

BEESTON OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION 1 UNITED GRAYS COMMUNITY 1

(Beeston Old Boys Association won 5-3 on penalties)

A very close final where the teams could not be split after 90 minutes, The Old Boys took the lead after just 8 minutes through a header by GAVIN CARR, but they were pulled back level when Grays equalised through TREMERE LINDO on 19 minutes. both were very good organised sides that seemed to cancel each other out with not many chances in the game.

DIVISION TWO SOUTH CUP FINAL

AC UNITED 2 BINGHAM TOWN RESERVES 0

A great final to watch with both keepers in top notch form, with them both making save after save throughout the game, at the presentation both keepers Francisso Jechel and Nathan Davis received loud claps of applause from all the crowd.

AC United took the lead just before half time, when a attacker was tripped just inside the area and the ref pointed to the spot, to which JOSHUA OSAFO planted into the net, though Nathan Davis did get a hand to it. In the late stages of the match, Bingham pushed forward but this left gaps at the back and in injury time, DANIEL ASUENMHEN scored their second goal to settle the honours.

Must say how well all todays officials did in the matches.

During the middle match, I presented the Charity Cheque to Nottingham Stroke Club for £1,200, I would like to thank everyone who donated to them.

During the day, people and clubs donated to the new Blogs Charity which will be for FAMILY FUND which helps and supports families with children with special needs with the running total standing at £44.00 last night, we now have a running total of £109.75p. I must thank the following for donations made at the Finals today and they are as follows: Michael Greaves, Jim & Grandad, Netherfield Seniors FC, AC United, Roy's Therapy, Pete Watmough, Nick Green, Dave Plowright.

THE WOLFS CHESWORTH HITS THE BICKS FOR FOUR

North Devon Football League: Intermediate Division Two

WOOLACOMBE FC 6 HIGH BICKINGTON FC 1

Well away for a weeks holiday and on Wednesday last week, my issue of Football Traveller arrived, heading to North Devon from Friday to Friday, I wondered if there would be a local Saturday match and to my surprise I found local club infact only a matter of 10 minutes away was Woolacombe FC. I found the club known as the Wolves on facebook so contacted them to just check the game was being played, I got a very quick response from the club secretary Mike and to find him when I arrived, me and my family was also welcomed back to their pub for a after match drink.

With the torrential rain on the Friday on the way down from Mansfield and the M5 flooded in Bristol, I thought I'd best contact Mike on Saturday morning just to check, to which his reply was yes match on and pitch is perfect to which it was. On arrival I was met by Mike and the majority of the home clubs players and had a quick natter.

I found a bench that overlooks the pitch, a ideal spot for taking photos down looking on to the pitch, Shawn sat there but just before kick off I was joined by the visiting keepers dad, I say keeper but he was injured and usually plays as a centre half.

The match kicked off in glorious sunshine on a lovely day totally different to 24 hours before, the away side were first on the attack and very nearly took the lead when through on goal, the ball just went wide of the post, they say that games have turning points and within minutes, this seemed to be the case, as the seasiders had gone up the other end and on 10 minutes JAMIE PRUDEAUX turned and fired the ball home in too the far corner of the net.

This seemed to settle Woolacombe down and they began to play the ball along the floor and play out wide crossing the ball in to the middle, but the visitors defence was standing tall and dealing with any efforts.

On 31 minutes, Woolacombe went 2-0 up when a mix up in the Bicks defence saw JAKE CHESWORTH close down the defender and take it round both him and the keeper and slot the ball in to a empty net.

Things got worse in the 42nd minute, when another mistake by a visiting defender let in JAKE CHESWORTH again to make it 3-0 before half time. Just before half time , a long ranged shot skidded across the Bicks six yard box and the stand in keeper make a excellent one hand save to push the ball out to safety.

The Second Half kicked off and the Bicks with the wind behind them seemed to play alot better and began to create a few chances, along range free kick scooped just over the cross bar, so the instructions must have been dont be afraid to have a shot on sight and this paid off wit the goal of the match in the 63rd minute, when the number 11 hit a bending shot from some 35 yards to reduce the arrears(very sorry chap, I didnt get his name, but he does deserve a mention).

With 72 minutes gone, Woolacombe's sub GEORGE CAMP got his name on the scoresheet when he got through and sidefooted the ball home in to a empty net from close distance.

Woolacombe now were turning up their game and 79 minutes, a cross from the right hand side found JAKE CHESWORTH who completed his hat trick. To complete the scoring JAKE CHESWORTH added his fourth and his sides sixth of the game in the 83rd minute, to make the final score 6-1.

With me sponsoring 25p each goal scored making £1.75p for the charity blog it takes the running  total for next season to £44.00 for FAMILY FUND, a charity that help and supports families of children with special needs.

CITY SEAL REVENGE ON THE RAVENS

Samba Notts Senior League Cup: Senior Division Cup

RAVENSHEAD FC 1 SOUTHWELL CITY FC 2

After going to my first match in 6 months on Saturday I thought it would be last for the season, but a unexpected message from ex referee Darren Wragg asked if there was any local matches going on tonight, with the offer of a lift and a chance to get out the house, the cup tie at Ravenshead FC fitted the bill for both of us.

A quick start from the visitors saw them looking dangerous going forward but the finishing touch just wasnt there, the home side tried hard to get in to the game but at stags found it difficult in getting the ball clear.

City finally got the breakthrough after 36 minutes when a Ravenshead defender was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area, where thee referee had no hesitation to point to the spot to which BLAIR BRYANT despatched to give his side the lead.

Southwell could well have added to their scoreline but for the home keeper pulling off some very good stops and saves.

The Second Half saw Ravenshead get more in to the match but Southwell still looked the better of the two sides, but both sides having chances.

The tie looked over after 75 minutes when a cross from the right hand side was met and slid home by ANTHONY BROWN who was in the right place at the back post to double Southwell's lead to 2-0.

Ravenshead pushed forward and in the 88th minute, pulled back a goal from 30 yards through OLIVER HIGGINS, but it a little too late.

After the match the Ravenshead Chairman Mark Yates kindly donated £10 towards next seasons Charity Blog which is in aid of FAMILY FUND who help and support families with special needs children, infact they have support my family several times, so the running total for Family Fund now stands at £32.50p

A GAME OF PENALTIES SETTLES THE TIE

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two Cup

UNITED GRAYS COMMUNITY FC 1 BILBOROUGH TOWN DEVELOPMENT FC 2

Having not been able to attend football for the past six months and the Charity Blog sticking just short of £1200, Hazel said she would take me to a game close by, so I could walk on my crutches and take a chair to sit on, I wanted a ground where I could take photos from sitting down, so Id not be in too much pain and Nabbs Lane in Hucknall seemed to be the perfect place.

On arrival the target of £1200 was reached when United Grays Community Captain John Manders kindly donated £10 and then other club members and referee Jevon Swinscoe also chipped in with donations which will be a good start towards next seasons charity blog which will be for Family Fund, a charity that supports and helps families with children with special needs and infact have supported us as a family on several occasions.

The match kicked off and I was joined by local hopper Malc Storer who isnt very well at present and I know all the non league football community would like to wish him well. Grays had the first few attacks but poor finishing left the score at 0-0 as the young visitors from Bilborough were coming more confident in to the game.

In the 22nd minute, a shot struck the hand of the Grays defender and the match official had no choice but to point to the spot, up stepped Town's captain JAK THOMPSON who placed the ball in to the corner despite the Grays keeper getting his hand to it.

The game then got a little fiery and the ref had to produce a few cards to settle the players down, though Grays looked the better side, the youngsters of Town were very quick breaking forward. Just before half time United had the chance to draw level when they were awarded a penalty, ex Bilborough man Baba Cham stepped up but visiting keeper Taylor Green was up to the task when he palmed away his effort.

Half time came and went as quick as the rainy showers and Grays pressed forward, but a long ball to the left wing saw the Bilborough player whip in a superb cross which was met by the head of a grays player that went in to the net to give Town a 2-0 lead on 49 minutes.

Grays tuned up their work rate and began to press forward more often but from corners and crosses, the visiting keeper just caught.

On 77 minutes, United got their second penalty of the game but this time TREMERE LINDO converted to half the difference, the rest of the game there was very little in chances and on reflection Town possibly just edged it overall on chances

Amount raised at the match was £29.00, so £6.50 went to make up £1200 to Nottingham Stroke Club and £22.50p is the start for next season for Family Fund..I will keep you all up to date with the cheque presentation when I make it..anyone that would like to make a donation, please contact me and I will give you the bank account details that I use for the charity blog, you can email me on robhregnsl@hotmail.com

CUMMINGS BRACE SEALS THE TOWNS DERBY

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League

Premier Division

STAPLEFORD TOWN FC 1 ILKESTON TOWN FCB 3

A late decision saw me convince Hazel to take me to Eastwood Community FC who had hired their ground out to Stapleford Town FC who could play their match v Ilkeston Town FCB. A few people asked how Ilkeston could play the fixture if they were a Derbyshire club, but all the young FCB team players live in Nottingham, so they are able at present to play away fixtures.

A healthy crowd gathered to the maximum 150 inside the ground and with the teamsheets of both sides, kick off wasnt too far away. A lot of locals were in attendance who said hello and stopped for a chat along the way.

The first 30 minutes was very even but Ash Hill in the Stapleford net pulled off a superb save in the 31st minute and this was a warning sign of things to come, as five minutes later the visitors took the lead, when KIERAN CUMMINGS slotted inbetween two defenders and hit his shot in to the corner of the net.

The Second Half hustle and bustled along without much happening and without each keeper having to make a save, this all altered in the 75th minute, when a trip inside the penalty area saw Referee correctly award Ilkeston a penalty to which MITCHELL TAIT stepped up and converted to double his side lead.

It soon became 3-0 when a long ball caught out the Stapleford defence and KIERAN CUMMING latched on to the loose ball and chipped it over the keeper head in to the empty net.

With the game deep in to injury time, it was Stapleford's turn to get a penalty to which JUDE BRITTAIN converted on his debut.

WOODTHORPE PARK RANGERS FC 3 SOUTHWELL CITY FC 2

Having been to watch the 2pm kick off between United Grays FC v Hucknall Town Reserves on one of Basford United FC's outside pitches, this gave me the chance to pull in the Second Half on the Premier Division match between second placed Woodthorpe Park Rangers and 7th placed Southwell City FC. On arrival just before half time, the sides were level at 1-1, a early goal by the home sides ADAM LIMB had been pulled back by a own goal.

The Second Half kicked off and Woodthorpe pressed forward with Markell Bailey slipping the ball just wide of the post, Southwell broke down the left side and saw a header go narrowly wide, the game was being played at a fast pace with some good football from both sides and in the 56th minute, it as CONNOR PARKIN who put Rangers back in front.

Rangers had a chance to make it 3-1 but the City keeper was in fine form, it looked like the missed chance may well turn the game as in City's next move they were level through a BRADLEY PEACE-MCDONALD header.

On 84 minutes came Rangers winner from a Bailey free kick, in whipped CONNOR PARKIN to slam the ball to give his side a 3-2 win.

UNITED GRAYS FC 4 HUCKNALL TOWN RESERVES FC 2

Earlier in the season I went to Nabbs Lane in Hucknall to see United Grays Community FC, today I went to see United Grays FC who play on the back pitch at Basford United FC, their visitors were Hucknall Town Reserves who are a young side.

The game kicked off with Grays pushing forward and had three good chances to go ahead, but with brave saves from the keeper and one outstanding save from him in midair kept the scores level, but on 22 minutes, a diagonal ball was played to LETISSIER FLEMINGS on the edge off the penalty box who chipped the ball over the outcoming keeper as seen in the photo above to give his side a 1-0 lead. The rest of the half was very even with shots going wide from both sides.

Hucknall started the second half more brightly and on 53 minutes were awarded a penalty, to which BLAISE DURUAKU slotted home to even things up. This seemed to awaken Grays who within two minutes had re-taken the lead when a 30 yard bullet of a shot by LUKE JORDAN smashed the back of the net. In the 59th minute, Grays extended their lead to 3-1, as the ball ping ponged around the penalty area and JOSH WILSON scrambled it across the goal line.

Hucknall werent going to go down without fighting as they pressed forward and in the 71st minute, BLAISE DURUAKU reduced the arrears again from the penalty spot. Hucknall pushed forward in search of a equaliser but this left gaps at the back and this was exploited in the 81st minute when JOSH GARDNER made it 4-2 and wrapped up the points for the home side.

Must thank the United Grays manager Darran Korol for his help in the past few weeks, his clubs sponsors Kerrys Fruits and Veg have done me and Hazel a few christmas hampers which have been excellent for presents and saved us running around. Kerrys website is on this LINK

ANDREAS HAT TRICK SECURES THE POINTS IN ELEVEN GOAL THRILLER

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League

Foundation Division

RAINWORTH SENIORS FC 6 SOUTH NOTTS AFC 5

With both sides coming in to the game winning their matches last weekend, a close encounter was expected on a grey showery day, hence no match photos from this game.

On arrival at the Joesph Whittaker Academy, in the car park were Sutton Travellers who had switched their home game v Carlton Town Reserves to a grass pitch over the hill, whilst I chose the option of my original match to watch in the 3g of Rainworth Seniors v South Notts AFC, the two sides met at the back end of October with the South Notts club winning 5-3.

The game kicked off slightly early as both sides didnt want too be standing around in the rain and in the first attack, the visitors after 68 seconds took the lead when BETTISON PAIXO shot and the home keeper kicked at fresh air. South Notts pushed forward in search of a second goal and the Seniors kept them to long range efforts.

In the homesters first real attack in the 9th minute, DAN SMART lifted the ball over the visiting keeper to equal things up. This seemed to lift the Seniors spirits as they pressed forward and they got their rewards on 15 minutes when ANDREAS KOKKINOU fired them in to a 2-1 lead, three minutes later it became 3-1 after a quick movement play by the home side which again was finished off by ANDREAS KOKKINOU.

At this stage, it looked like Seniors could well run away with the game but South Notts AFC keeper Joshua Harvey pulled off four top class saves/ The visitors though were not giving up in a fast flowing game and gained a free kick some 25 yards out in the 27th minute, to which OLAF MILEWECSZ fired through a crowded box of the players in to the bottom corner of the net to reduce the arrears, but Rainworth hit straight back with in a minute when LUKE WHITMORE was last to touch a bouncing ball around the box before it crossed the line to make it 4-2.

In the 30th minute of this exciting half, the visitors again closed the gap when BETTISON PAIXO scored his second and his sides third goal of the afternoon.

The Second Half kicked off in similar fashion as the first, with goal within a minute, but this time it was Rainworth that got it when DAN SMART broke through and slipped the ball past the visiting keeper. In the 51st minute, it looked to be game over, when from a corner of the left side,  ANDREAS KOKKINOU completed his hat trick with a header to make it 6-3.

In the 53rd minute, a few players from both sides got frustrated and came together, this short break seemed to affect the home sides concentration as from the resulting free kick, South Notts REMEL WHITE's free kick from 30 yards struck the back of the net.

In the 58th minute, NATHANIEL MORRIS pulled the visitor back to just one goal behind, but with a few late challenges leading to yellow cards and then both sides going down to ten men due to being sent to the sin bin, as Seniors went back to eleven men, South Notts lost another player to the sin bin.

A frantic final ten minutes saw a all out attack from both sides in a match that more goals could well have been scored, with the visitors hitting the crossbar in the final moments of the match.

For a neutral, a very good match to watch in a game that had about everything.

YOUNG LIONS HEAD HOME WITH THE POINTS

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League

Foundation Division

MANOR FC 1 CARLTON TOWN RESERVES 4

With lockdown lifted and Nottinghamshire placed in to tier three, football began again after a short break in the NSL, but then 24 hours before kick off came some rain and snow, so my plan A was to visit Manor FC's home ground which is only down the road from my bungalow, but after a phone call to the home secretary, I was in for a bonus as the fixture had been moved to a venue that Id not seen a match before on the 3g pitch at Brunts Academy School in Mansfield.

Manor FC came in to the match in midtable whilst their visitors Carlton Town Reserves who are nicknamed the Lions sat in third.

The game kicked off at a quick pace with shots coming in for both clubs, but on 10 minutes with little on Manor's JASON STRAW hit the ball from just over the halfway line that then dipped over the visiting keepers head to give his side a early lead.

This seemed to pump up Town as they pressed forward but it was again a long punt by JOSHUA BROWN from 30 yards that caught the home keeper out to level up the scoreline. The Lions continued to press forward and the home keeper made up for his early mistake with a couple of good blocks and stops, but after 32 minutes, the match ref James Green spotted a tug of the short and awarded the visitors with a spot kick to which RACHIDOU AKPO dispatched. Carlton could have gone in to the interval further in front if not for two goal line clearances.

Manor to their credit opened the second half the better and they themselves had the ball cleared off the line and seemed to be getting more in to the game, but on the hour from a broken down corner, Town broke and a long ball found RACHIDOU AKPO go clear through and take the ball past the outcoming home keeper to slot his side in to a 3-1 lead.

The game then went from end to end and both sides had chances to add to their goal tallys, but it was Town in the 84th minute who made it 4-1 when sub GERD SANDJO blasted home from close range to seal the points.

Just a quick mention to say I felt the referee James Green had a very good game, also along with both sets of club linesmen.

Must also thank Manor FC Secretary Lee Proctor for the kind donation of £25 to the Charity Blog for Nottingham Stroke Club which now takes the running total with todays goals to a outstanding amount of £1,146.75p

Just had a message from Match Referee and he has also made a donation via Bank Transfer, so a many thanks to him
