CUMMINGS BRACE SEALS THE TOWNS DERBY

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League

Premier Division

STAPLEFORD TOWN FC 1 ILKESTON TOWN FCB 3

A late decision saw me convince Hazel to take me to Eastwood Community FC who had hired their ground out to Stapleford Town FC who could play their match v Ilkeston Town FCB. A few people asked how Ilkeston could play the fixture if they were a Derbyshire club, but all the young FCB team players live in Nottingham, so they are able at present to play away fixtures.

A healthy crowd gathered to the maximum 150 inside the ground and with the teamsheets of both sides, kick off wasnt too far away. A lot of locals were in attendance who said hello and stopped for a chat along the way.

The first 30 minutes was very even but Ash Hill in the Stapleford net pulled off a superb save in the 31st minute and this was a warning sign of things to come, as five minutes later the visitors took the lead, when KIERAN CUMMINGS slotted inbetween two defenders and hit his shot in to the corner of the net.

The Second Half hustle and bustled along without much happening and without each keeper having to make a save, this all altered in the 75th minute, when a trip inside the penalty area saw Referee correctly award Ilkeston a penalty to which MITCHELL TAIT stepped up and converted to double his side lead.

It soon became 3-0 when a long ball caught out the Stapleford defence and KIERAN CUMMING latched on to the loose ball and chipped it over the keeper head in to the empty net.

With the game deep in to injury time, it was Stapleford's turn to get a penalty to which JUDE BRITTAIN converted on his debut.
